Announcing Iowa Poetry Association Contest Winners

The Iowa Poetry Association will soon release its 75th Anniversary Edition of Lyrical Iowa, the annual anthology comprised of poems by Iowa writers of all ages. According to Editor Marilyn Baszczynski, within the pages of this year's Lyrical Iowa, poems explore myriad experiences of anniversaries, life, death, love and joy while taking the reader on nuanced emotional and spiritual journeys, some gentle, others less so-a trek from old bra hooks for repairing turtle shells to a child's big and beautiful world where we must not litter, all while running past Zeus and dragons along the way.

Overton named to Allen College-Unity Point Health Summer Semester Dean's List

Bob and Nancy (Law) Kimm Celebrate 65th Anniversary

The children of Bob and Nancy (Law) Kimm are pleased to announce the 65th wedding anniversary of their parents. The couple was married on September 17, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois. After honeymooning in Kentucky the couple returned home to Chicago. Bob received his orders to report to Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. The two hopped on the motorcycle and never looked back.

Overton Graduates from Allen College with honors

Chase Overton of Vinton received a Bachelor if Science in Nursing with Magna Cum Laude honors  from Allen College. The College awarded 45 degrees during its commencement ceremony on Friday, August 14.Allen College conferred 4 Bachelor of Health Sciences degrees, 38 Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees and 3 Master of Science of Nursing degrees.

Ellsworth Community College releases 2019-20 Graduate Names including Swailes

On Friday, May 8, graduates of Ellsworth Community College took their next step as they became alumni of the College. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MCC was unable to have a ceremony to honor the graduates. Graduates include those that completed their degree or diploma work during the winter 2019 term and spring and summer 2020 terms.Graduates are listed by their hometown, followed by the degree/diploma awarded (AA is Associate of Arts, AS is Associate of Science, AGS is Associate of General Studies and AAS is Associate of Applied Science), and the students' majors.
